The expectations of hosting, of spending, of getting everything just right for that holiday performance, all of these scenarios can create stress that may lead to anxiety in adults or children. Learning and teaching adults and children to recognize stress around expectations, and moreover to reappraise it as a positive motivating task can help.
Understanding and recognizing the stress from performance stress, and how to navigate stress that causes major anxiety goes hand in hand with knowing the individual. Some stress at teh surface is caused by everyday events, and yet those every day challenges may trigger deeper challenges that have not been address at the individual level, for example untreated trauma, or PTSD from traumatizing experiences may be a much deeper challenge that requires the attention of a mental health professional. Educators can become aware if these deeper challenges by engaging in our training offering guides to implementing a trauma informed classroom. THENCE provides daily micro lessons on these and other key topics that serve to familiarize all faculty and staff with reappraising everyday stress, as well as the deeper contexts of student stress, anxiety, and trauma. Schools access our micro lessons and as well as our classroom to cohort mentoring program through THENCE subscriptions here.
